Taekwondo
Taekwondo USA is the central governing national organization/body for all sanctioned competitions, training, rules, and structure within the United States and for all US international teams, including the US Olympic team. This recognition by the National organization/body is deemed the "first ever" from three different perspectives:
-
First time any senior US athlete over the age of 33 has been specifically recognized for competitive accomplishments within taekwondo both at the National and Maryland state levels;
-
First time any competitive US athlete of any age has been recognized for superior achievements "outside" of taekwondo and across a wide array of other disciplines (track & field, giving back to the community, regional economic and women's advocacy awards, business, finance, etc.);
-
First time any competitive US athlete of any age has been recognized for outstanding achievements across an array of other disciplines which have been tied directly to the influence, discipline, and training from taekwondo and as well specifically exhibiting it's principles and tenets (i.e, courtesy, integrity, moral and physical courage, indomitable spirit, self control, and perserverance., etc.).
